In the Room Where It Happens: Tjay’s Wellington Roundup

Last week in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, the weather may have said winter — but the recruitment energy at the Beehive said otherwise.

Our CEO, Tjay Asiata, was in Wellington for a week of powerful industry connection and conversation that pushed beyond surface-level networking and into spaces of real purpose, accountability, and forward-thinking. Two standout events — the invite-only Diversity Agenda Accord Summit and the RCSA Industry Networking Event — created space to reflect, challenge, and reimagine the future of our sector.

At the Diversity Agenda Accord Summit, Tjay was invited to join a select group of signatories for a closed-door, action-driven conversation. The focus: digging into the latest data, sharing insights, and engaging in honest dialogue about the state of diversity and inclusion across New Zealand. The summit was grounded in accountability — with an emphasis on where we’re progressing, where we’re falling short, and how we can align as an industry to move forward together. It reminded us that integrity isn’t a statement — it’s a practice. And innovation means creating systems where all people are valued, seen, and supported.

The energy shifted — but the purpose remained — at the RCSA Networking Event, held at the Beehive. This was a space where fresh thinking took the lead. With no fluff and no filters, industry leaders came together to challenge outdated norms and elevate the recruitment conversation. For us, it was another reminder that this isn’t just a profession — it’s a movement. One that requires boldness, professionalism, and consistent action to back up the vision.

Tjay’s presence across both events reflected exactly what we stand for as a business: showing up with purpose, being open to growth, and contributing to the kind of change that’s real, measurable, and long overdue. These weren’t just events — they were a reflection of the future we want to help build.

And if last week proved anything, it’s that when values lead, the conversations hit different.
